Hocus Pocus with Paula Rae Schmidt Session Two
Ready to conjure up something truly spectacular this spooky season? Hocus Pocus with Paula Rae Schmidt is a dynamic, 2-day interactive workshop designed to teach you how to masterfully evaluate color, texture, and perspective. Using festive fall and Halloween canvases as your playground, Paula will give you the lifetime tools to tackle any painted canvas in your stash, no matter the season.
How the Workshop Works: A True Collaboration
This is a collaborative workshop rather than a traditional stitch guide class. Together with Paula, you will co-create a magical stitching plan tailored specifically to the key features of your canvas.
- The Halloween Workbook: Every student receives Paula’s exclusive workbook featuring chapters on stitching Hair, Fabrics (costumes, capes, and dresses), Pumpkins & Round Objects, Backgrounds, Brooms, and Moons, Stars & Sky.
- Interactive Shopping & Learning: Paula will kick off day one with an introductory overview focused on backgrounds. Then, the real magic happens: you’ll explore the shop together to pick the perfect threads.
- Group Element Breaks: Throughout the two days, Paula will gather students working on similar elements (e.g., pulling all the "pumpkin stitchers" or "cat stitchers" together) to discuss advanced techniques—like distinguishing a Jack-o’-lantern from an uncut pumpkin. You’ll get to participate in all discussions and are highly encouraged to video any live demonstrations! Paula will hand-chart any unique stitches not already in the workbook.
Canvas Selection & Guidelines
To get the most out of this experience, look for a canvas with areas of various sizes so multiple stitches and techniques can be applied. Think pumpkins, witches, bats, cats, children in costumes, scarecrows—all the great Halloween stuff!
- Size Restriction: To ensure everyone gets ample personalized attention, the painted area must not exceed 12" x 12".
- Mesh Size: 13 or 18 mesh.
- Deadlines: Canvases must be in-store by September 1, 2026, so Paula can prepare for your arrival.
- Perk: Enjoy a 25% discount on your canvas when purchased through The NeedlePoints North.
