Five Decades. Zero Pretense.

Needlepoint is having a moment, and we are here for it. Though for us, needlepoint has never stopped being the ultimate creative outlet. It’s a quiet, beautiful act, a way of saying, “Nope, I’m taking this time back.” It’s about reclaiming, one stitch at a time. Your time, your choices.

Hi, I'm Susie

My entrepreneurial roots run deep, fueled by a lifelong draw toward the process of creation. And while I’ve long cherished the needlepoint pieces Becki made for me, I’m thrilled to finally be stitching my own. Beyond my growing pile of WIPs, I’m channeling my energy into building a new business with her. I believe needlepoint has a unique power to connect us, not just to each other, but to those who came before us. Whether it’s discovering a great-grandmother’s vintage canvases or sharing a pattern with a friend, the craft reveals the magic of connection in the most welcome ways. My commitment to family, friends, and loyalty is the foundation of this venture, ensuring that every part of this business feels as personal and enduring as a hand-stitched heirloom.

And, I'm Becki!

At this stage of my life, I'm focused on pursuing things that truly interest and energize me. The NeedlePoints North is my opportunity to share a passion I've cultivated since my twenties: needlepoint. I believe in hard work and understand the value of creating a lasting legacy, both through the NPN and the relationships we build. Ultimately, I'm driven to share my knowledge, foster strong relationships within our community, and create something valuable that reflects my dedication

We LOVE the new energy and excitement the younger generations are bringing to this art form that has just…lasted. Through our experience, we know this: there isn't just one right way to stitch. We go beyond techniques and teach the quiet, powerful joy of creating something beautiful with your own two hands. Our job is to guide you to your best method.

The $100 That Started It All

Picture this: Mackinac Island, Michigan, 1972. When Susie's father asked about Becki's business aspirations for the island, she responded with a simple yet clear vision: "Open a needlepoint shop."

In that moment, he became her first investor, presenting Becki with a crisp hundred-dollar bill.

Becki immediately put the seed money straight to work, buying a roll of canvas to design a stunning rug for the Mackinac Island Needlepoint Group (MING). It was a beautiful, collaborative piece stitched by local women, a true work of art.

Susie and I have finally found a home for that $100 investment at The NeedlePoints North. This shop is the culmination of tried and true stitches, friendship, and hard-won wisdom. Our classes are credible, our product curation is trustworthy, and our advice is genuine. We welcome you to explore and create with us, and have a great time doing it.
